MySpace HypocrisyI promised in my last post that I would explain what I meant by how I "tried" to post those pics as on my profiles for DList and MySpace. Well, as I try to be a man of my word, here's the story.
Does this picture seen objectionable, or too risque for the eyes of a 14 year old?
Well, while the guys at DList.com have no problem with it, the prudes at MySpace seem to think so.
I uploaded this picture and used it as my profile pic, all to get an email from MySpace saying that one of my pics were deleted. It was also stated how MySpace is supposed to be for people as young as 14 years old, AND I was threatened to have my account deleted if I continued to post such objectionable material.
To MySpace, I must ask, how fuck-faced by way of hypocrisy can you get?
As big a fan I am of the Pussycat Dolls, I must use them as an example.
MySpace has videos of them where one member does a dance move where she suggestively puts her leg straight up in the air to prove how limber she is, while other members wear brassieres and skin-tight low-rise leather pants as part of their outfit. All of which I admit does provoke the straight part of my bisexuality to surface.
But back to my point. Meanwhile my wearing a t-shirt and swim trunks that fit well around my genitalia gets me threatened with a deleted account. This is a clear example why I date so few Americans, and this hypocrisy also contributes to the problems that face our American young people.
What MySpace is doing is making a double standard definitely 1, but maybe even 2 ways. 1) Between mainstream and adult entertainers, and 2)between celebrities and average citizens. And both possibilities of sheer hypocrisy are making me question whether or not I want an account with them.
The ignorance of making a double standard between mainstream and adult entertainers is something I don't think I need to get into. It's too easy to attack. But the double standard between celebrities and average citizens is another matter, because it has some serious consequences to our society. The puritanical attitude for MySpace to act like this way says that the average citizen is to abide by those destructive puritanical rules, but not a mainstream celebrity.
This attitude towards sex is also too widespread in this country. It's why our teen pregnancy and STI rates are so high. America acts like they're guarding their young people, but all their doing is heightening their young adults curiosity to the point that they're going to experiment. And that's normal. The problem is that when they experiment, the desire is so repressed thank to that puritanical attitude that our young people experiment recklessly.
What I'm saying here to MySpace is actually a wake-up call to American parents. It's time to realize that you need to let our young people know that sex exist. It's a natural part of life from the curiosity, to the experimentation, to an individual discovering their own sexual style. STOP putting blinders on your young adults about that fact. Most other countries don't and that's probably why their pregnancy and STI rates aren't as out of control as ours. America babies their children way too long, which makes for inept parenting. And acting like that pic above is a dirty picture that is "too mature for teenage eyes" is a perfect example.
America, what is it going to take to open your eyes to that fact?
